Auto-create audio podcasts in 50+ languages with NotebookLM
A 10-minute high-quality Hindi conversation on any topic takes just a few clicks
I conduct courses and workshops in Gen AI for varied audiences, and I’ve found that NotebookLM is consistently the thing that most participants list as the most valuable thing they learnt in the course.
Read my earlier article about NotebookLM to get a good idea of why you should be using it, but the short introduction is this: it is a tool which allows you to upload your collection of documents, website links, YouTube videos and then you get an LLM which you can chat with and it gives answers only from the documents you’ve uploaded. And every sentence of the answer links back to the original source so that you can double-check that there are no hallucinations.
NotebookLM keeps getting better and better.
A cool feature of NotebookLM is that it can automatically generate an audio podcast based on the documents you’ve uploaded. Just click one button and wait a few minutes, and you get a podcast which is a conversation between two people giving you an overview of the material. If an overview is not what you want, you can give them instructions on what exactly you want and thus customize the podcast.
Here’s a podcast on "The Great Gender Divergence" that I created with 10 seconds of effort.
The latest update is that NotebookLM can now understand and speak 50+ different languages. So you can upload documents in English and ask questions in Hindi, or vice versa, and most importantly, you can create a podcast in Hindi, or Marathi, or even Konkani.
Here, for example is a Hindi podcast about "The Peter Principle".
There are a lot of other cool features of NotebookLM, including the ability to automatically create an FAQ, a mindmap, a study guide, and more. And to know how I use it, see my previous article on NotebookLM
A recent feature is that you can "engage" with the podcast - you literally "join" the conversation between the two podcast voices!
